It is commonly asserted that with greatness, there comes great
responsibility. Such is the case nowadays with Smartphones. Since the dawn of
smartphone, modernization and the multiple usage of phones as a personal
assistant, calendar, alarm clock, researching device, music and entertainment
unit; we hardly have to look elsewhere to complete these tasks. However, the
problem occurs when all these activities come at price; usually being the
limitation of battery. Through this article, there are some of the ways that
one may be able to observe some tips in order to expand and increase the
longevity of your Android Phones battery life.
1.
Location & Wifi
All android phones currently provide users to have the option of turning-on or off their GPS location. Some applications like Google Maps and Snapchat require you to turn on your location. However, the problem is that GPS location and constantly keeping on Wi-fi takes a lot of battery percentage to keep your location connectivity to these applications. Hence, if you are not using any applications which require GPS and Wi-fi then go on and turn off your location and Wi-fi as well. In many android phones the location and Wi-fi option can be turned off by tapping the location icon and the WI-fi by swiping down the top of your home screen.Or you may go to Settings> Security & Location> Disable location or Disable WiFi
2. Change your colour scheme or turn brightness to extreme low
If your android phone has an OLED screen
(which most android phones do nowadays) then changing your theme to a darker
one as well as completely diming the brightness of your phone when it is not
being used, will help to also preserve the battery. Whilst on the topic of
themes, avoiding live wallpapers or any sort of theme that automaticaloly6
changes will also take up more battery hence, stick to still wallpapers and
avoid turning the brightness to a full when the phone is not being used to view
anything that requires for the brightness to be at full. There are also some
applications available which help to provide dark themes for your smartphone, so if your phone doesn’t have built
in “dark” themes then download these apps to take the full advantage of the
longer battery life experience.
Go to settings> Home screen &
Wallpaper> Enable dark Theme.
3.
Close Apps running in background
A lot of the times, we forget but whilst
switching from one app to the other; the last application used remains opened
in the background. This is similar to opening multiple tabs on your computer
screen and if not closed the computer may get slower because they require more
power from the PC. Similar, is the concept with multiple applications running
in your background. The phone battery has to work twice as harder in order to
keep those applications open at the same time. So, once you are finished with
an app, at the bottom of your home screen some phones have buttons or swiping
up helps to display all the apps running in the background. By selecting the
app and swiping up again helps to close them, or you can close all apps running
in the background at once is a delete button is available in your phone.
4.
Switch to installing “Lite” Applications
“Lite” applications are exactly, what the
name suggests they are. They are less burdensome upon your phone as they
require less power to operate or use them. Lite applications are usually a more
basic version of the main application with perhaps few functions not being
available to allow the size of the application to be smaller. Many applications
like Facebook Lite or Messenger Lite exist so that they are more battery
friendly and also help with storage issues. If your phone has less internal
memory and you want to increase the longevity of your battery life then
download Lite versions of applications and notice the change in your smartphone
operability and enjoy enhanced functionality.
5.
Disable Google Assistant
Even though, Google Assistant is very handy
for numerous tasks, it can consume a chunk of your phone battery. Not only does
it recognize voice command or has voice recognition but it also uses the WiFi
and your location to provide search results instantly. Hence, when you are
closing the WiFi and the location, there may be no need of keeping Google
Assistant enables for any task unless it is absolutely necessary and your life
depends upon it.
In conclusion, these are some of the most
basic ways through which you may be able to save and prolong your Android phone
battery. Even though these are pretty small aspects to take care off, they can
be extremely useful and help you to preserve your phone battery as well as keep
it in good condition for a longer time. The key element just revolves around
making sure that there isn’t too much burden upon the battery for longer
periods of time.
